cosy-beginning-of-spring-evenings

Always get lost on the way to [Redacted’ s] house. No matter how many times I make the journey. Stood on the corner, confused when two ginger cats crossed the road in front of me. A sign. There’s a cat lady near [Redacted’ s] house, and you always see at least five cats near her house. Sent a photo to [Redacted 2] giving out how we can’t have this in our cosy college apartment. [Redacted 2] said they have my hair. Another cat I saw was the exact colour of [Redacted 2] hair when it’s freshly shaved. I see my friends in the strangest things. Believe the cats led me in the right direction. The ginger ones that is, not the one that looks like [Redacted 2] shaved head. They’ve some sort of Arcane-inspired design dyed onto their bleached bald head at the moment. It’s faded a lot quicker than the rest of their designs.

We sat on her wooden floor for over an hour. [Redacted] runs cold naturally, and she has terrible luck for always getting cold accommodation, her mini radiator at our feet, and cradling cups of liquorice and peppermint tea to warm our innards. Third cup of tea I had that day. I like times like this. Sat around, womanly talk and gossip while imagining the potential heat of next month, if we are lucky enough to have a Spring. Told [Redacted] a series of stories that have happened since I last saw her. She told me it sounds like a horror story, quoted the Tell-Tale Heart at me, “I was never kinder to the old man than during the whole week before I killed him”. Shivered and giggled at the same time cause sometimes it feels like a horror story, but other times it feels like a blessing. Good stories always come from these times. Can’t stop telling stories, told [Redacted] how the night before [Redacted 3] and I went on a tiny journey to get her stolen phone back. Met a young girl who sounded nothing like the elderly woman’s voice we heard earlier on the phone. The girl kept saying, “the woman told me to give this to you”, “the woman”, “the woman” - never did find out who “the woman” is. More horror stories [Redacted] claims. Gushed over how cute [Redacted] and their lover are as the tiredness and hunger of the day settled into both our bones.
Admired the photo strips from our favourite photo booth in the Capital stuck on her wall as I took my leave. Hunger taking over. Wore my headphones despite not playing anything on the bus because something about not being able to see and not being able to hear. Or was it the other way around? Regretted my lace pants and skirt in the coldness of the night while walking back to my cosy college apart.
