Small Musicians That Are Going To Blow Up

There has never been an easier time to learn new instruments or software for music, with free apps and YouTube videos breaking down every song on any instrument you can imagine. However, with everything being so accessible, it leads to an oversaturated industry. The good and bad thing about music is that anyone can make it!

Whether you are stuck listening to the same artists on repeat or constantly try out new artists, it can be hard to find smaller musicians in this age of social media, where the bigger your social media presence, the likelier your music is to be successful. This article is dedicated to some musicians I have recently discovered, who I believe are going to blow up in popularity! The popularity of each artist varies, with some having thousands of followers and some not.

  1. Lawny

My latest obsession has been “Everything’s Changing” by Lawny, or @lawny779 on TikTok. This song has such a relaxing vibe to it, and the lyrics just stick in the back of your head. Lyrics such as “everything’s changing yet we stayed the same”, “no compromises can fix this”, and “can’t we just stay forever” really make the listener feel that they have also gone through this changing relationship, losing a piece of themselves in someone else.

On Lawny’s YouTube channel, they also upload cute lyric videos of their singles, videos full of green, blues, and nature that match the relaxing vibe of their lyrics.

Lawny started making music in 2023, with their first YouTube video being published on the 12th June 2023, “Can you tell me why (your lies). This first single wouldn’t be put on Spotify until 2024. As of August 2025, Lawny has six tracks on Spotify and 15,280 monthly listeners!

  2. Leah Dong

Are you trying to find a new artist who gives you that feeling of frolicking through a field in a white flowy dress? A voice that immediately grabs your attention? If yes, Leah Dong is exactly who you are looking for. Her song “Bellissima” has me tiptoeing around my kitchen humming lyrics such as “protesting my old man, I love it’s true, “I find you in dancers, I find me in tears,” or my personal favourite “oh how you built up all my faith just for my love to chip away”.

As of August 2025, Leah Dong has over ten tracks on Spotify, with her most listened to track being “You Were Supposed To Fall In Love With Me”. She currently has 7,348 monthly listeners, and her TikTok @leahdong has 1,641 followers as of August 2025. The earliest release on her Spotify is a single from 2023 called “Beautiful Psycho”.

    3. mermaidonmars

Have you ever just read a song title or seen how an artist titles their tracks and immediately been interested? That is what happened when I was going through mermaidonmars singles. Tracks such as “shooting her”, “Like a God”,romantic malevolence”, and “hotel affair” immediately catch the listener’s attention.

One of her songs from her latest EP, “Like a God”, called “kiss french” has gotten some attention from TikTok. As of August 2025, her TikTok @mermaidonmarsmusic has 18.1K followers, and her Spotify currently has 8,995 monthly listeners! Her first release on Spotify was in 2023 with her single “shooting her”.

4. Rosalia Ritchie

This next artist is really what I call a hidden gem. While scrolling my For You page, I heard the song “petals” for the first time. When I went to check it out on Spotify, I was shocked to see that this isn’t her most listened to song!

Speaking of the For You page, Rosalia Ritchie’s TikTok is @rosaliaartchie. As of August 2025, she has 3,680 followers. In one of her recent TikToks, she captioned the video “.. be there before I blow up,” so I’d like to officially claim my og ticket! Should I mention she has photocards? As merch? That’s a must-have!

In terms of Spotify, Rosalia Ritchie first released on Spotify with a single called “Biodegradable” in 2023. As of August 2025, she has over five singles and one album, with 136 monthly listeners!

5. Bullpen

You may have already heard one of Bullpens’ first songs from back when they went by the name “Malefactors”, a song called “Topless” from their first EP as a band went pretty viral on TikTok. However, now the duo has rebranded to Bullpen as Lucille and Wren continue to release amazing music! Their first release on Spotify was their EP “Head in Your Hands” back in 2023, which featured the viral hit “topless”. Although if you are giving the EP a listen, which I highly recommend, “Elodie” is a brilliant listen even after a few years.

Their latest release was earlier this year with a single called “Known” - despite a rebrand at such an early and critical part of their career, Bullpen has continued to show that they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon and will continue to release banger after banger. If you’re ever in the Dublin area and get a chance to see them live, I wouldn’t miss it if I were you.

As of August 2025, the Bullpen Spotify has four singles and an EP, with 7,369 monthly listeners!

That concludes five artists that I believe will blow up over the next few years. As someone who is constantly trying to find new music I may end up making another list in the future, however for now these are artists I genuinely hope to see get more recognition within the coming years. As always, thank you for reading!
