Like A Stray Dog By A Pond

How naïve to believe

That you could love me

You weave compliments to deceive

Me, to follow you as a stray dog would.

Loyalty is best suit for someone sat mute -

Desperate to be wanted,

Desperate for love, to get rid of

This empty, hunger feeling in my stomach.

That consumes my lonely afternoons,

Walking in circles around the pond.

Push through temperatures, waiting for you,

Sat where you left me.

Like a stray dog by a pond.
