Don’t Think

Don’t think of his heartbeat

Against your ear.

Cheeks burning with heat

As he comes down from the gear.

Don’t think of his eyes

All soft looking at you

Watching his chest rise

Unsteadily, vape glue

To his other hand.

Don’t think of the accidental

“I love yous” from my bed

Always in denial but so gentle.

Don’t think of everything we said.

Don’t think of him

Kissing others in the pub

Remember when the lights go dim

It’s me he always called up.

Don’t think of him spitting

Poison every time he says

Your name now. Gritting

His teeth while he tells

His tales. Acting as if

I wasn’t between his legs
